I, and neighbouring MP Peter Fortune, have submitted a joint response to the government over their proposed housing targets and planning changes. The government’s proposals almost quadruple Bromley’s annual housing target from 774 in 2021 to 2,805 (whilst at the same time, significantly reducing London’s overall target).
This is unachievable without urban sprawl — it would be the equivalent of building more than three new Bromley towns covering an area the size of 1,170 football pitches. It will open the door to paving over large swathes of green belt land and we must fight it. More details in the letter below.
